Allright guys, need some help.

Just got done installing Gauges, during the test drive i lost the Tach for a sec and the Check Engine light came on. There was no hesitation or bucking. Checked for codes and found 0336 for crank positioning sensor. I checked for the connection and that seems tight. After a couple of starts the light went of only to return a few miles later. There have been no performance issues, the Tach works fine and the light comes and goes. I did remove the gauge cluster during install, i dont see what that has to do with 0336.

I just had the same issue with my '99. I thought it was my EZ box but light returned after I removed it. It came back after I installed a new fuel filter. I suspect that I moved some wires around during the filter change... ... . maybe a connection isssue. My truck has also shown no other CPS symptoms. Tach is even ok. I plan on checking all connections and will go from there.

Good luck :D

Replaced the CPS today, my tach started acting up, figured better off replacing now before it gets worse, sensor was only 40. 65 bucks at Cummings there is a 7. 20$ core charge, part #4002066NX

Well... ... I have a CPS on order with my local Cummins dealer. Will be in on Monday. My tach also acted up and with no EZ attached, it couldn't be the box.

Called dealer and they wanted $237. 00

installed. I will brave the cold and do it myself! I just hope the sensor doesn't give me trouble coming out or breaks off.

I removed the hold down bracket from the sensor and used a pair of vicegrips to get a good grip and pulled strait back.

I also removed the Oil dip stick, gave a little more room. In case you don't know the bolts on the starter are 12 point 10mm

Good Luck
