I noticed a loss of power when towing heavy up a grade, (15K 5ver)

I have 180K miles on it, a new LP and a new VP 44.

I went to autozone and used the scanner and it said No codes to read.

The odomometer says p1693 and p-Done

truck runs ok but has a slight loss of power when towing. any ideas?

I don't think the autozone code reader will pull the codes from the pcu, when I tried it would only pull and clear the codes in the ECU. Try turning your ignition on three times pretty quickly without starting your truck. This should put the codes in your odometer. If they are in the pcu, you can clear them by disconnecting your batteries for about 10 minutes.

Good luck,

Casey

SoCal,

Last time I used a scanner it picked up the 1693 ( which is a companion code, doesn't say much) and the other codes which didn't show up on the odometer.

Try and find a better scanner and let us know what you get.

How long ago was the pump replaced? It might have to clear out after a number of good starts.
