Archived Code 1762?Possible T.P.S/A.P.P.S????

O. K. It's on a Dakota but I thought some of you auto guys might have seen this same code. The truck also doesn't want to accelerate over 2000 r. p. m. in drive/revs o. k. in park/nuetral. Is there any adjustments that maybe I can do before taking it too the dealer?I only have access to a generic o. b. d. scan tool. It's on a '02 Dak. 3. 9 v-6,auto,4x4. Any help much appreciated... . On the diesel engines you can calibrate the APPS by removing the battery cables for 30-40 minutes, then reconnect the cables, turn the key to on (don't start) and slowly depress the accelerator pedal to the floor and slowly release. Then start the engine. That will recal if that's your problem.

Code 1762 is for governor pressure sensor offset high/low. It's not an engine or TPS problem... It's transmission related. I see the governor pressure sensor and solenoid go out all the time in the Rams, and they use the same parts in the Dakota. So if its not a bad connection somewhere, its going to need a new pressure sensor AND solenoid. Only one of the two may be bad, but you'll be kicking yourself if you replaced the wrong one. That's why I always replace them both at the same time.



Get some transmission pressure readings (mainline pressure and governor pressure) and report back. Should be an easy one to fix!

Thanks for the help guys,it's a co. truck,and still under warranty so I'll let the dealer handle it. My local dealer is pretty good and will probably have it fixed alot quicker than I can,as I know nothing about stinkin' automatics. ... Doug

Evan,you were right on the money,they replaced the pressure sensor in the pan only. Will see if that takes care of it. I guess I need to learn some of this for when warranty runs out. Thanks again for the info... Doug
