Code A4?

My engine light came on and I checked for codes and it said A4 08. Then I check again and ot went to A4 10. Then again and it was A4 12. What the hell is going on here? PLEASE HELP!

Those are the instrument cluster codes, NOT the engine codes. To read the engine codes, turn the key from "OFF" to "RUN" 3 times, leaving it in "RUN" the third time. That will display the engine codes.

Unless they changed the programming for 2004. 5-up, if it was a 1-trip code the light will go out after 3 consecutive trips.



If it's a hard code (which means it recurred within 1 cycle of the ignition key), the light will still go out after 3 consecutive trips, but the code will remain until 40 consecutive warm-up cycles.



All of that is predicated, of course, on the code not recurring.

My Quad box will set the CEL every once and a while. The light will usally go out after a certain amount of key starts, (never really counted).

I also think there is a battery disconnect method too.
