I am new to diesel engines. A friend Russ, here in San Diego told me about this place. I have an 05 2500 with a Banks Six Gun. My truck has no power to pull itself or get up to and stay at speed. The OBDII code is "P0299 Boost in range low" Looking for some help with what I need to check. I am able to reset the code and drive. It has come back on a couple of times in about 60 miles of driving. I have changed the Fuel filter, Air Filter and checked the fuel for water. When driving the EGT goes from 450 at idle to 1000 when accelerating up to 50 MPH using very little throttle. The boost will go up to maybe 4. Even at Highway speeds the EGT will stay down around 450 with no throttle. Then go up rapidly to 1000 or more when I accelerate.

Please Help

Make sure your intake is unobstructed, before and after the filter all the way to the turbo, then check all your boost hose connections to make sure you have not blown one. I am not very familiar with Banks accessories, but I would try to disable or disconnect it or whatever you have to do to get it out of the loop. Then test drive it to see if it is your truck or the Banks, thats where I would start, hope that helps.

When criusing your Map sensor is seeing less than acceptable boost ranges and triggering this code. It mostly happens to us with bigger turbos since they produce less boost while criusing. Your EGT's tell me that you have a boost leak. Since the truck is an 05 with the plastic intercooler its probably cracked on the end tanks. Check it out your EGT's will be high and your turbo will be more prone to overspeed with a boost leak like this.
