code p0406

EGR POS SENS VOLTS TO HI.

Service dept. says that my afe stage II mega cannon or any open air intake will cause that code. They won't check for problem with egr unless I put factory box back on and bring back. What is yalls opinion. I calll bs. Said unhooking battery cables won't clear all codes. I asked him if they cleared them with starscan he siad yes so I'll see but I bet not.

I don't think there is a code P0406, can you double check? But, it sounds BS-ish to me.

In checking my Dodge Cummins code chart I can not find a PO406 but there is a PO50b, a lot alike. This code is Exhaust Gas Recircution Temperature Sensor #1 Curcuit Performance.

LOSS OF EGR POSITION SENSOR (K916) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT

I doubt the AFE had anything to do with setting the code but dealers have been told by corporate to not work on modified 6. 7's

They wanted me bring it back this morning with the factory box on it to clear the code. So I went to auto zone and had the code cleared. Knock on wood it has not came back on.

I did not have the exact P code, therefore it is impossible to make a exact determination of what is wrong. But, based on the description of EGR position sensor voltage high the AFE would have nothing to do w/ this. Therefore, BS on the dealerships part.

Drove about 700 miles since erasing code. Everything seems fine.
