P2121 Pedal Position Sensor 1 Performance / Rationality

Thats about all I got on that one, no idea what it is or what may have causes it

P2121 is the APPS or whatever that little doohicky that controls how much fuel the engine gets when you push the slender pedal.

"Linkage/throttle positions sensor assembly, accelerator control replaced part # 53031575AH" was what my work order said.

"0. 3 hr, time for diag c/s intermit gas pedal did not respond, drb check, fault code P2121, erase code and road test, check apps sensor voltage sweep with drb, replace accel pedal position sensor diesel eng, roat test after repair"

It happened twice on me, and twice on my wife until I took it in. Take it in and it should take about 2 hours to do it. Unless they have to have the part shipped in from somewhere!

Been there, done that.

The '04 Powertrain Diagnostic Procedures book said that a P2121 for diesel is "P2121=APP VOLTS DO NOT AGREE WITH IDLE VALIDATION SIGNAL" Set condition: IVS indicates idle while APPS signal voltage inicates not at idle condition or IVS indicates not at idle while APPS signal voltage indicates idle condition.

The APPS has a redundant circuit because it is fly by wire. If one sensor says the APPS is at idle, and the other one does not, it sets a rationality code. If both sensors agree, everything is good to go.
