I was re-charging my AC today and had the engine idleing at about 1200 RPM for about 5-7 minutes. After the re-charge and a couple of re-starts I got the MIL light with the PCU Code of 0500... I guess relating to a speedometer problem. The latter works just fine!

Since everything appears to still be normal... Am curious if the MIL light will just re-set itself when the "computer realizes that the speedometer is working just fine"? Plan on leaving Minn for the drive back to Nevada tomorrow (Sat) and don't need any preventable problems while crossing South Dakota... etc... . especially on a weekend.

Opinions and advice most welcome.

No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal

Usually this comes up when you break traction for more than just a little bit, or one sensor got rubbed through by the rotor (common on the 2nd gens with ABS). Front wheel sensors are not agreeing with the rear axle sensor . Never heard of a MIL with it though.

My truck gets the 0500 with the smarty high idle or if you hold the throttle down without the truck moving. It should reset itself after a couple of starts or with a scanner. Good Luck!
