Hi everyone,

Every couple of months, the MIL (check engine light) illuminates on my 2014 3500 with no message on the EVIC to explain the cause. I'm pretty sure this has happened only immediately after starting the truck and never while driving. The MIL will clear itself in 3 or 4 "good trips" and the truck operates normally the whole time.

I'd sure like to pull the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) but so far I haven't had any luck with the two code scanners I have available...

My Edge Insite locks up whenever I use it to scan for DTC's, so it's of no help.

I have an inexpensive Innova 3030 code reader, and while it seems to work correctly, even with the MIL illuminated on my truck's instrument cluster it shows a green light with no DTC's present. Obviously it's not able to query all the computer modules necessary.

Can anyone recommend a good code reader they know works correctly with the 2014 Ram diesel to detect and pull up obscure DTC's? I really just need one that displays DTC's, clears the MIL, and I don't care if it has on-screen DTC descriptions... I can find those myself.

Thanks in advance,

John L.

The Android app with adapter looks good for most of my use. BUT, the one big thing I need is speedo/wheel size correction, which it doesn't do.

The Actron app for Windows does wheel size correction, but seems geared more toward the repair shop. Not good for traveling and is $250 plus.

Any tips for a reaasonable (less than $150) stand alone that will program wheel size, plus read codes on both a 2013 RAM and a Ecco-Diesel?

it is over $200, but the hypertech works. I use one for my work duramax and it works well.
