Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) code reader

Hello



I am looking for a code reader to keep with me in anticipation for a trip from Alaska to Key west FLA I have a Schucks and NAPA here in Juneau or any other suggestions would be welcome.



also any suggestions about my trip are also welcome. I will be pulling a 30 ft fiver.

To bad you dont have a Harbor freight they sell one for like 39 buck's that I hear work's good . I got my code reader from Pep Boy's and love it so I am sure schuck's or Napa will carry one also .

When you shop around for a code reader, all you really need is a simple one that'll display and clear the code number. Don't bother paying extra for a model that purports to show a description of what the code means, because invariably the generic descriptions stored in these code readers is next to meaningless. Your money would be better spent by buying a set of Dodge diagnostic trouble shooting manuals for your truck at Chrysler's TechAuthority web site.



Alternatively, once you have the code, you can either look it up online using Google or search here on the TDR forum for a complete description of what it means and what to do about it.

kinda what I figured just a cheapy that reads the numerical code.
I have the complete code list saved on the computer.

why would you anticipate the need for a code reader leaving town and not around where you live?



IMO, take the TDR travel companion and if you need a code cleared or read deal with it that way. If you are traveling through NWbomber territory, download the 911 list too.
