Just for ****s and giggles, I checked my DTC's with the Smarty Jr. I didn't have a CEL. It had codes 480 and 483. I know they are for the coolant fan. I just put a dorman viscous fan on about 8 months ago. Could this fan clutch be bad already?? I've been having temp problems(running hotter than normal)when pulling my camper last year.
Especially uphills. It also doesn't have the roar. What temp(approximately)should the fan kick in? Thanks in advance.

Aftermarket clutch fans for our trucks are junk.
I know the OEM part is spendy but it's the only one that works right and holds up.

Doorman fans are bad out of the box. That said, I have the same codes with an OE replacement fan. ECU is potentially the issue for these codes as those direct connected circuits. Have to go thru the trouble shooting tree and see where it leads.

I found my old fan clutch and installed it. Codes went away. The only reason I replaced it is because it took awhile to warm up in the winter and it spins faster then the dorman. Of course the dorman didn't work either.
