I've got a 2001 with a five speed manal, its been acting funny for the last 6 months. every now and then it will just have no power it lasts any where from 1 to 10 seconds then just takes off. Last night was the first time it gave any codes.

P0216 Injection timing control circuit malfunction

P1690 Manfacurer Contrl.

I added a bullydog box a few months ago but it was doing this before that.

I am thinking its a crankshaft sensor. Im hoping someone can help.

Thanks T Brock :{ :{

Your injection pump is headed south. Break out the wallet. :(

I'm afraid Bajabob is probably right. If the crank sensor was acting up the tach usually follows it (ie. 0 rpm).

Don't know of any sure way to test other than at a Bosch service facility. As for a new one I believe member Bob Wagner has them and probably as competitive as anyone else.

Get ready for a new VP44. You should check your fuel pressure and probably change your lift pump to try to prevent another VP44 failure.
