OK Gang! Heading for the barn after 16k on the odometer for this latest trip from NC to AK and return! Two days ago while tooling through the flatlands of KS, get the “Electronic Throttle Control” light, shortly afterward the “Check Engine Light” Chimes in. I check the codes with my handy dandy code scanner, it states a fault with a Emission Sensor Low Voltage. Restart truck everything fine. Stop for the night in Dodge City. Next day ½ hour down the road, “Electronic Throttle Control” icon shows up, cruise control inoperative. About 15 minutes later, another chime occurs, this time the “Check Engine Light” appears. Then the overhead starts flashing “Catalyst Full, Service Required”. The “Electronic Throttle Control” starts blinking and we go into Limp Mode with a 30 ft 5’er through the rolling hills of southern Kansas. #@$%!
My Nagravator, locates a Dodge (Ram) dealer in Woodward OK, about 50 miles away. At a highway intersection I shut the engine off, I plug in the scanner and see P0471, P0107, P2228,C342D, P0055, C3064, C3064, C2174, C2520. I didn’t erase them, started the truck, Presto! The truck is running well!!!
Get to the dealer, he plugs in his equipment, asks about the Crankcase Filter, says the timers are all wacked out! Resets the timers, and tells me to drive steady without the Cruise Control for about 45 minutes at 55-65 mph while it’s going through a re-gen cycle, understood.
Truck has run fine since (2 days).Oo.
My question about the reset is, does this mean the system looks for another EGR Service in about 66k? What are all of the timers associated with? Note Specifics in Sig. Thanx in advance for any insight.

Hi, how many miles on the OD for the truck total?

The P2228 is a turbo issue I had this early on with my 08. The dealer had to drill the turbo and clean it. After that I deleted and have had no issues since.

When was the last time that the MAF sensor was clean? This will soot up and effect the engine also. When was the EGR and cooler cleaned this is to be done ever 67,000 miles or so.

If you google RAM engine codes a list will show up and provide information on what these are.

Hello Jim, Great to hear from you! The truck has about 130k, most if not all is towing either the 25 or the 30 footer. No lugging, always gear down on hills, a lot of cruise control. I performed the EGR Service much earlier, (before the TDR Rally). I'll check the MAF Sensor. Had the turbo and EGR Valve replaced last month in Idaho while returning from Alaska. So I hope that's not it!!
I checked all of the battery connections after the turbo work, are you referring a connector issue DF?

Hi, we are traveling right now coming home from the New England states. So I will try to keep this short since I am on my wife's I pad.

First question now, how old are the batteries? Over three years old they maybe questionable! Have the batteries been load checked recently? I would also check all of the ground connections on the truck and the cross over battery cable between the batteries to be sure that the wire is not corroded. This has happened to some truck owners I know.

I had an electrical issue last year and the passenger side battery was going bad and load checking them found this out and both were replaced, no more issues since than.

You are both pointing to a similar direction. As soon as I unpack from 5 months on the road I'll start first with the batteries, then start chasing chassis and circuit grounds. That could also be a/the cause for the Electronic Throttle Control Light to come on at weird times as well as the Cruise Control to drop out on occasion. Thanx, Jim and DF
