I have two codes I have questions about. The first one is 0234, the explaination for this one that I have is... . turbo boost limit exceeded problem detected in turbocharger wastegate. The other code is 1693, the explaination I have for this one is DTC Detected in companion module A fault has been generated in companion engine control module. Also... . DTC in PCM/ECM or DTC detected in ECM A 9companion DTC9 was set in both the ECM and PCM. What does all this mean? I'm a newbie so have patience. I also noticed that when I start my truck in the morning the rpms jump about 100 until it warms up, then its just fine.

Well from the sounds of it the Ottomind may have failed to send a false signal to the ecm when boost was over 20 lbs. (20 lbs of boost is the factory HIGH limit) and the ottomind shows 19. 5 when boost is over and above 20. That is no big deal. Also that 1693 is on just about every ctd out there as that code goes with anything ... . . in fact just driving down a road with canadian geese flying over head will set it LOL! How's the truck run? Does it feel underpowered? If so the ottomind may have taken a dump on ya and is no longer sending a false signal and the Cummins is defueling itself to keep boost under 20.

Well the truck seems to run great until about 2300 rpms and then it seems to level out. The power is still there, but the acceleration defintely plains out. Is there anyway to tell if the Ottomind isn't working? I've only had the system on the truck for about 2 weeks!!! Like I say the truck seems to really have the power out of the hole, but just plains out after 2300 rpms or so. Off that subject if you don't mind to answer another question..... I have a fuel pressure gauge to install, what is the best place to monitor fuel pressure, pre-filter or post filter? Thanks alot !!

Make sure that the MAP sensor plug is in tight and has a good connection. It sounds like the truck is defueling and cutting back which coincides with the ottomind not sending a "Fooled" number.

Me I have mine POST filter as that is the important number. Sure you could have a pre number so you can see your filter condition but I want MY numbers on what is entering the VP44

What kind of boost are you seeing when you get up around 2300? Is your peak boost now the same as it was before? Like TMTT was saying, if the Ottomind isn't performing it's boost fooling function anymore, the ECM will defuel to bring the boost back down to what it considers acceptable levels.

Problem Fixed!!!

I found that the Ottomind wiring harness loose from the unit itself!

Now how do I clear the 0234 code? Do I have to have it re-flashed? Anyway thanks for the information!! This website RULES!!! Keeps me from messing around with my dealer!!!!LOL!

ToolMan

Where do these codes come up? In the truck or do you need a computer or something to read them. Maybe a dumb question, but I don't know! Thank you!
