I'm looking at ordering a Cody gooseneck hitch. Anyone out there have any experience with one? How do you like it? Was it easy to install? Would you buy it again? Thanks!

Steve

I've found a combo 5th wheel/goose neck hitch that works great and is priced between 500 and 600 bucks. That way you can pull either type of trailer if you need to. Trying to remember the manufacturer. Will look it up in the morning. Anyone interested, e-mail me and I'll give you the maker, tow ratings its avbailable in, etc. as soon as I look it up.

I have the Cody goose neck adpter on my fiver, but have towed it only twice(total 450 miles) since the change over and the change from conventional 5th wheel hitch to the Cody came at the same time I got the new truck so I can't give a direct comparison. The regular 5th wheel hitch was in a '93 which has some differences in the suspension compared to the '01. Having said all that, it does seem to me that there is a little more bounce or porposeing with the goose neck, but over all I like it and it is convenient to not have the 5th wheel hitch in the truck. I got the ball set up for the truck from the Cody distributor and its the kind where the ball lifts out and turns upside down. There is very little protruding into the bed of the truck.

Installed the Cody Gooseneck hitch about 3 weeks ago on my dad's 2001. Great product, I would buy one again. Got ours from a dealer out of Kansas which sold it for 30 bucks cheaper then the other ads I had seen. The install was not a problem, just hope you have long arms if you have a 4x4. Also helps to have 2 people to do the job. I'd highly recommend getting one if you haven't already, alot cheaper then the Turnoverball and similar products.
