When my original Edge Comp died at less than a year old, Edge Products replaced it with a new one. The new one worked fine only when it warmed up. Then I had to shut the truck off and restart it for the comp to turn on.

I contacted Edge and they replaced it with another new one. I still have the same problem. Have to shut the truck off and restart it to get the comp to turn on, after the cab temp. warms up.

this only happens when it is cold outside. when the outside temps. are warmer during the day the box will turn on ok when I first start the truck.

I'm pretty sure its not the wiring cause if I keep the box in the warm house and take it out and plug it in it will turn on on.

The box works fine other than that. Its just a PITA to have to shut the truck down to get it to turn on.

Any ideas or similar problems out there?

I never had this problem before sending my box in & having it upgraded to a drag comp. Now it is doing exactly as you explained. I have to unplug the power from the fuse box & plug it back in to get it to turn on... . or just wait till it gets warm. The problem is only when it is below freezing..... It is a pain, but I've learned to deal with it... . I guess. Another problem that I would like to mention to edge is that if the box sublevels aren't all on 5... . [1x5,2x5,3x5,4x5,5x5]... Why does it have less power on 5x5? It is a noticable difference in my truck. I had stage 3 set at 3x3 & noticed a real power loss when running 5x5. I thought this box was 100% adjustable... . guess not?

I bought my first comp for my 02, version 8, right before the new year, it lasted about a week, and then was stuck on level one. I called Edge and they sent me a replacement, the replacement doesn't work when its cold out, which is every day, until the cab warms up and I turn the truck off then on again. I have been hesitant to return thes one because it works when its warm in the cab. Another thing is, and this might be me but it almost seems like I got more power out of the first box I had. This may have something to to do with what everyone is calling a glitch or not. I want to check the connection to the pump wire, and make sure there is good connection. How does the pump cover from BD work? Does it allow a better connection?

I too just recenctly "upgraded" to a drag comp, and now it is doing exactly what you describe, I was starting to think I was on crack! The old version never had trouble even when below 0*. Another problem I have is that the level three LED on the box does not work until it warms up either. I don't know, it still seems to work when it does warm up. But it sure is a pain in the @ss considering it has not been above freezing in a couple of months.

I was gonna send my box in due to it not working when cold, but decided that it is nice to have that cold weather protection for when my brother drives it.

Now that I think about, it my new one does seem down on power compared to the first one. Had to tell ,seems like i'm always in heavy traffic and cant get on it to much

I guess the question is if the cold weather non-operation is a problem or is it the way its supposed to be?

As far as the power goes, i can't really tell right now, my truck is all loaded up with my plow and 2-yard sander, my stock auto might not like 5x5

I don't think they are supposed to work this way. I already sent one back to Edge for this problem. When I called them to get a RMA and explained the problem they said they had no idea why it would act this way. I would like to send this one back but I'm getting tired of paying the shipping and unhooking all the wires under the hood. I guess its not that hard , just a pain

I guess I will just have to wait for warmer weather . or return it and buy another brand of power adder, TST ????

The BD stealth cover contacts that speacial little wire, underneath the cover. It is not exposed to the elements and is more secure and stable. I have had mine installed for a while now and have had no problems. It is a pointed allen head screw that actually makes the connection inside the pump. A wire attaches to the screw and your normal wire that would pierce the pump wire hooks to this. You still must attach to the black wire w/brown tracer (i think thats the one) or you can run the ground to the battery. I think that it is more reliable than the scotch locks... worth the money in mho.

I would go with the cover from TST it is about half price of BD. It is just not as pretty as BD's stealth cover.
