2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Cold Fronts

Last year I stored my truck but plan on running it thru this comingwinter. I have a 4 place winter front and noticed in operating manual it suggests not to cover entire grill. What peice of this 4 part insert should I leave out if any??

I've used all 4 pieces of my winter fronts every year since '99.

I have an old winter shield from my Peterbilt 379... it is a 2 piece, but the center, you can maneuver it around to leave 4 little pockets for air, but usually the center is not needed. Last time I used the center was when I was in Colorado. I also use my old 379 bug shield year round. . that itself makes a huge difference!! It may be cheaper than buying one of those winter shields for our trucks. .

You can cover the entire grille without problems. There is still a sufficient amount of air that enters through the bumper.



You might try removing your fan completely this significantly helps with warm up. If you do remove the fan the only thing you need to be careful of is letting the truck sit an idle to long when it's warmed up.

I have a Lund 4 piece stainless cold front. Haven't had a problem, and as it was said above, you get plenty of air through the bumper.

I usually remove mine when the days see 40 degrees for a high, or if I plan on towing hard.

I've seen people with cold fronts that procrastinate and leave them on even when it is 60 or 70 degrees out, and I think that's putting too much of a load on the cooling system.



The 4 piece cold front made a big difference for me last winter.

Thanks for the help. I will use all 4 this winter. Duluth Diesel, I was up at the off road park in Gilbert a few weekends ago. Had a great time and you Minnesotans should be very proud with what they have accomplished with the creation of this park!
