My truck runs about 165 degrees and the hottest I've got my egt's is 800 degrees towing a 22 ft trailer up a steep grade. Is this normal or am I running cold?

You did not say how cold it is outside, Montana can get pretty cool!!!!!
I would say yes, you are running too cool,
you should run 1000 to 1200 deg. on pyro on a hard pull, if your probe is pre-turbo.
Your engine should run warmer also mine runs right at the 1 on the 190 on normal running.
my pyro runs 600 to 800 cruising 70mph or so depending on if it is pulling up a hill or not. this is without trailer.
What is your boost pressure running???

Coolant temp seems low especially if your pulling trailer. But that could be temp sending unit, connection, wires or guage.
EGT's before or after turbo?
It seems low but losing the cat and rust holes in muffler can help to decrease egt temps lower. By relieving the back pressure hot exhaust moves faster out of the cylinders and exhaust manifolds(and the rest of exhaust system also) this helps to lower egt's a whole lot. Also helps turbo performance.

The probe is after the turbo. Normal driving my temps run 400 and my boost runs about 7. And when I got my egts to 800 it was 100 out side. Nothing wrong with my gauges they shot the motor with a heat gun. Muffler isn't rusted I drilled it out.

Your EGT reading sounds about like mine. I have the probe post turbo also. I have had it up to 1000 a couple of times. My trailer is an old heavy 32' Traveleze which should be quite a bit more load than your 22 footer. Both times I hit 1000 was on long steep grades. The coolant temp seems a bit low but not too bad.

Dr. Bob... your coolant temp runs the same as my 96. I have changed Tstats several times and I think the gauge just reads a little cool. If your truck runs fine and heats all winter the 165 is OK. You might want to add a winter front for cold months. It helps warmup and keep what little heat you have.

Sounds about right to me, post-turbo egt should not read as high as pre-turbo.
You might want to put an electric blanket around your engine to keep it warm!!!
aint it nice to have an engine that does not overheat, ping, etc. when you need it the most??
YES!!!!

Dr Bob, I've never seen mine at 800. I pull a 24"tt.
Mine is post turbo also.

My temps are the same as yours on the temp guage. My egt is post turbo and the highest I have seen is 850 on a long hard pull towing a 24 ft trvl trl. I have the 230-605 plate from TST in the stock posistion. These readings were with stock exhaust and the cat still in place. I think you are normal for temps.
