Question about getting dyno'd

how hot

O-kay fellas I just moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Stevens Point, Wisconsin. (Keep the jokes to yourselves). And I have never lived anywhere this cold so I gotta a few ?'s

First of all it was about 10 degrees today for a high. Do you guyz run a differnt oil in the winter I am running Schaeffer 15w-40. Remove the fan? Yes or no?

Do you put something in front of the radiator like a winter front? Because she ain't warming up hardly at all.

And finally, what ratio should I be running my coolant at? I don't want it to be to cold. Any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks a lot. Travis.

The cheeseheads haven't gotten to you yet have they??? Welcome to the frozen tundra. No, it is not usually this cold this early, -7*F here right now. Usually don't see that until Jan.

I have used a few different oils. Cenex 15w-40, Mobile 5w-40 and 15w-40, Amsoil 5w-30 and currently Amsoil 15w-40. I'd definently go with a synthetic 5w-40 for winter. Makes for much easier cold starts, you can hear the difference. A few guys have found a 0w-40 which would be awesome, but I don't know where to find it. If you're not workin' the truck, Amsoil 5w-30 is awesome in the cold, but I don't like the "30" for towing.

"Remove the fan"??? Hell no. Maybe a chunk of cardboard or something if you need it. Mopar makes nice fronts for the newer ones, not sure about yours.

A 50/50 mix for coolant is all I've ever used.
