I live in North Pole, Alaska and the weather can get pretty cold (-40 common). For the last three years I have had cold weather starting issues (unplugged at 37 degrees above zero). If the truck isn't plugged in it will not start, and up until this year, it has started when plugged in. Now it isn't starting even plugged in below 20 degrees. I have replaced the air pre-heater, and the fuel injection system was gore through last winter. No one up here has been able to come up with a solution. I am looking for any suggestions. Thanks

Questions:

Did you verify the grid heaters are actually heating? I. e. : Does the base of the air heater manifold get hot to the touch, do the headlights dim, or does the voltmeter show a system voltage drop when the grid heater relays cycle on and off?

Once you do get the engine started, does it seem to run normally?

What's the history on the injectors (how many miles do they have and have they ever been tested or replaced)?

Have you tested and/or replaced the fuel heater?

Have you tested and/or replaced the FCA (Fuel Control Actuator)?

Best regards,

John L.
