Battery Disconnect

Undecided about 2wd vs 4wd

Turned on the roof air on my LQ trailer and the fan ran but the compressor killed the generator when it tried to start. Ordered a new AC unit to replace the old one (3.5 years old) Anyone out there have trouble with the Coleman units??

Could it be a failed compressor motor starting capacitor(s)? I had that happen on a Coleman A/C years ago. Replaced the capacitor and it ran flawlessly for several years until I traded the RV.

I'm with Bill - are you SURE that it isn't just a failed start capacitor? Generally, the Colemans are about as reliable as a stone axe.

I have to agree with the starting capacitor. I've had a wide variety of roof AC's over the last 45 years and the only thing that ever went bad on any of them was a starting capacitor.

Another vote for capacitor, had one go bad on a Dometic unit. Dometic sent me the parts (capacitor and fan motor) for free and I agreed to install them. Cured the problem, still making cold air 8 years later.

I gust received this from Good Sam's; they have a blog that sends out maintenance tips twice a month. This one is on AC and what needs to be done. In there they state that capacitors are the main reason that causes issues along with dirty filters.
