Competition Diesel Pickup Pull-Platte City, MO July 21

Competition First trip to the drag strip.

Okay, new deal..... not a CPSC event, but a DIESEL series of events.

The Diesel Hot Rod Association is expanding and giving diesel truck owners all over the country a great opportunity. It is up to all of you to take advantage of it!!

How this works is, the Colorado Chapter of the DHRA has formed and will now have it's own series right here at Bandimere!

All it takes is for you to go to www.dhraonline.com and sign up as a racer ($40 gets you:

a DHRA ID card, a pair of DHRA decals, a DHRA Member decal, a DHRA rule book, a subscription to Diesel Power magazine (2006 will have 9 issues), discounts on tickets to DHRA National Events,

discounts on DHRA merchandise at DHRA National Events

(Each membership is valid for 12 months from the date of activation. ).

This membership will also register you as an official DHRA bracket racer and you will start earning points for official races you attend.

Okay, a bit more explanation... ... .

You attend one of the series of races (we will be posting the dates later today), you pay Bandimere your usual $30 to race and you put your DHRA member number right on your racer card that you tech in with. You will then come check in with the Colorado DHRA Director (that's me :D ) and pay $10 to the diesel purse for that race. You go through Bandimere's tech (just like always) and then start racing. Most series give you two time trials and then bracket eliminations start. Your points will be tallied by keeping your percentage of wins versus losses. At the end of each race, the winner (whoever goes the most rounds) will win the entire diesel purse for that race that particular day. So, you do have a chance to get your money back at each race.

At the end of the season (September) the top 5 bracket racers from each division will get a special invitation to the DHRA Nationals in Houston October 14-15. This is where you go up against trucks from all over the country and race for BIG prize money!!

Okay, Colorado, let's show em what we've got!!! Get your DHRA racer membership NOW and then email me at -- email address removed -- and let me know what your member number is.

See ya at the track!

Thanks Richard. I appreciate that. Hope you can come out and race with us!

Big Mak,

No DHRA sanctioned pulls in Colorado yet, but maybe that is something we can look into for next year. Eric is always willing to try new things!! :D I imagine it will depend on how much support we show the DHRA drag racing in Colorado (and then how many people start bugging Eric for the same kind of deal in Colorado for the pullers. :-laf He likes the phone calls. ).

I'll be putting on a LOT of miles running out East to pulls; It'd be nice if there were more in the midwest (here in Nebraska we don't consider Indiana and Ohio "midwest"). Colorado would certainly take precedence over pulls in PA or WV (one way: 1100 or 1400 mile drive vs 700 to CO). Fuel cost may keep me from making it to a few I'd like to get to.

Right now DHRA has a lock on 8000-8500lb diesel trucks. Although I think our 8000lb class should be made 8500; based on weighing in 1000lbs overweight on Satuday  -- quad cabs weigh a lot. They got a nice "I told you so" at the staging lane since they wouldn't let me pre-weigh (first weigh in they should allow a pre-weigh so you have a clue).

The other pulling organizations are WAY behind on keeping up with the market. They're still writing rules for 70's vintage gassers. So to pull these Cummins diesel trucks you almost have to pull a DHRA circuit -- and pull local fairs and events. Even the county fairs are ahead of the pulling organizations in terms of rules for newer trucks. I think that has a lot to do with the traditional pulling organizations being run by people that don't want to build trucks that can compete with a Cummins diesel.

... however ... this is good news from DHRA. The more Diesel events we can get in the real midwest the better. I'll be at Floor-it in KS or the Powerstroke club event in CO on the 22nd depending on which I can get to based on time and fuel money. Leaning towards KS since my fuel budget is blown all to heck already.

It's too bad ATS isn't into pulls -- I think they could get a good pulling event going if they were interested. Instead they leave it to the powerstroke club after several years of frustration from pullers  ... then give them a hard time about scheduling on the same weekend. :( . Lot's of diesel enthusiasts like seeing and participating in pulls. The more event diversity the more attendance.

I agree with event diversity. The best thing for all of us to do is show as much support as we can. This way we can prove that there is enough interest in our area for big name events. Get as many folks to come and watch these events as participate.

And don't forget... ... the CPSC and RMTDR will be side by side again on Sunday at Truck Fest helping out Bandimere any way we can. :)

So, Sled Pull, drag race (by the way, Truck Fest will be the first official race where the participants of the Colorado Chapter of the DHRA can earn points - so get your DHRA membership purchased soon!) and get others to attend all these events!!

Some say we aren't serious about our trucks here in the Rocky Mountain region... ... . let's prove 'em wrong. Oo.

Not according to Jeff at Bandimere speedway, this looks to be more of the same illusions. So will Eric really line up beside Scott, or me for that matter. I'm ready for him

Hey Comp why don't you go find a NHRDA thread to post on cause this is about some DHRA races, and some great work that Shay is putting in to help promote diesel drag racing. There is nothing in this thread about "Eric" lining up next to scott or for that matter you. BTW a true professional and one wanting to really promote diesel drag racing would not resort to calling someone names. His name is Eric McBride, and even though I may not agree with everything he has done he has worked hard to help promote diesel drag racing, and sled pulling.

Now back to the topic. Thanks Shay for your hard work in helping to promote diesel drag racing, I for one really appreciate your efforts. :D

Guess I don't understand what you are trying to say... . Last time I talked to Jeff he was very happy to be helping me out with this. Even if it doesn't get HUGE like IRP, it's not gonna hurt Bandimere. Just brings them more race fees. It's a win-win suituation really.

Don't knock us because we are trying to advance the sport in our area. We would just like to see some of the big names come to our area once in awhile too, as well as enjoy the sport ourselves. No harm in that.

Hope to see you at our SHOOTOUT weekend Comp. Been wanting to meet you for a long time. :D

Shay

And as for Eric, I don't even know if the dragster will be here. I would love it to be here, but I'll be glad just to have Eric here. :)
