Combo 5ver / gooseneck hitch advice needed

I am looking for a 5ver/gooseneck hitch combo. Does anybody have any experience with the Putnam or turnoverball combo? Can someone tell me about their quality, ease of install, best price found (and where). . etc???



I really like what the Putnam offers but I like the thought of an Air Ride hitch better. The only draw back is that with an Air Ride hitch, I can't install a gooseneck also.



Any suggestions on a good hitch that has the expandability of both?

I had the same problem as you. I got around it by installing a gooseneck adapter on my 36' fifth wheel and installed a BD Turnover Hitch. I'm really happy with the BD, this is my second on my new truck. I still wanted an air ride hitch also so investigated everyone who makes one. I've decided on the Trailer Saver which has the option of replacing the fifth wheel with a ball. It's a simple 5 minute, one bolt conversion and the overall price is a little lower than the competition single purpose hitch. I might add it is also stronger and has undergone independent laboratory testing which the others have not.



In fact I liked it so much that I will become a dealer for the hitch operating out of Roswell, NM within the next month or so. If you're not in a hurry I'll try to make you a deal. Drop me a note if you want more info.

Have you looked at Reese rails. 4 pins and you change from ball to fifth wheel. Remove the hitch, and the rails are not much of an intrusion in the bed of your truck. I like mine. ray

I too prefer the Reese system. 4 pins and it's out. 4 pins and it's in. Simple, strong and parts are very easy to come by. And, it is the least intrusive on the bed of the truck. Mi dos pesos.

The problem that I have with the Reese is the Price. I was looking at the 20k hitch and it was like $750, then additional $250 for the Gooseneck attachment... . where as I found the Putnam for $545 including shipping.



The Putnam come equipped with everything including the rails... a 21k 5ver hitch, pull 2 pins, take off the top and whoola a 23k gooseneck hitch.



Do you guys have any experience with this hitch? Is it any good?
