So I will call the Tech line in the morning but thought I would ask here too.

I am running the Quadzilla Commander. I have it set for the 4-position display of EGT, boost, oil temp, water temp. I had warnings set. When a pre-set temp or pressure of one of the monitored settings is reached, the display blinks either one, two, three, or four, depending on how many are reached at the same time.

So, here is the question. When running unaccelerated or accelerating slowly, the screen is black numbers on clear background. When I romp on the pedal (no other BOMBs engine-wise), the display goes to silhouette, the numbers turn clear, the background goes black.

As I stated above, my warnings were set. So, I enabled all the warning settings to "Off" and it still happens, but only when I push the pedal and accelerate hard.

Any ideas, or comments? I will reply with what the techs have to say tomorrow.

what warning is going off? Depending on which warning it is, it may be as simple as you have your warning set too low/high. Let us know which one is going off and what you have them set to warn you at, and maybe we can help you out a little more.

They are all set to "Off". So let's say I was using the 4-position display with EGT set to warn at 1300*. The Commander is supposed to go to the 1-position display and display a flashing "EGT 1300*" warning, and then when the temps drop, go back to the 4-position.

Mine is set on the 4-position and when I romp on it, the entire screen STAYS at the 4-position setting, but the screen flashes from black digits/clear background to clear digits/black background.

If I WERE to have the warning settings set at certain levels, all four would have to be hit at the same time to make the screen stay and flash.

What about all the defueler settings are they off as well? It seems to me I had sort of the same thing when I first got mine, and i can't remember now if it was a warning setting or a defueler setting. But what really ended up being the culprit was the fuel pressure fitting in my VP pump. I had used teflon tape and quad says not to. But that was just my truck.

EDIT: Yes, my defuel settings were set to 1250* and 25 psi. So the guages wanted to defuel and flashed. That was it! Thanks Stacked!

When you call Quad ask for Jeremy... He's been immensely helpful. I recommend getting the sofware update that they now have posted on their website. The performance aspects of my Commander improved considerably after I installed the update. Make sure you download the instructions (it's a .pdf file) and print it and read it thoroughly before you start doing anything. NOTE: When uploading the software update into your Quad Commander, it will prompt you to plug in the USB connection between your computer and the Quad module "BEFORE" the .pdf instructions say to... ( in other words... earlier) Just follow the on-screen prompts and everything will go smooth. Try the update first... I'm sure Jeremy will tell you that if you call him. Also check your "grounds" for the Commander. In my experience... improper or ineffective grounds cause more problems than any other issue.

Thanks too Axe. I also received the pillar mount today! Nice simple install it looks like. I may pull the Commander off the dash, and update it before I put in the pillar.

does the commander need to be plugged into the truck to update or do i need to crawl back under the dash to unplug it and take in the house?

The .pdf instructions say to take the "Commander" out of the truck... which is the safest way to do it... but...

I left mine in the truck... mounted and connected and used my lap-top to install the upgrade :-laf . I downloaded the software from Quad's webpage into my laptop... unplugged my laptop and let it run on batteries and took it out to my truck... laid it on the center console... started the "update"... then plugged the laptop into the "Commander" via the USB cable WHEN PROMPTED by the "update".

REMEMBER: The trucks ignition switch must be "off" with NO POWER going to the Commander module. The USB cable will provide the "power". IF IN DOUBT... remove the power feed wire for the Commander module which plugs into the fuse center under the hood (I did this for insurance and safety).

1. Read the pdf file first... thoroughly.

2. Go slowly...

3. Follow the on-screen prompts exactly...

4. Don't plug the USB cable into the Commander module until prompted by the software to do so...

5. When the download is complete... unplug the USB cable... reconnect the power cable under the hood at the fused connection... and fire up the truck and have fun!
