what is stock housing centimeter on 180hp 98 12v?

where to purchase 1/2" fuel lines localy (minnesota)

I think I'm going to put together a set of twins using my PDR HX40 and an HT3B with a 26 housing. Anyone running this right now with a similar setup to mine (see sig). Anyone have any comments on how this'll run, I know it's a pretty common setup.

I can deal with a little lag, what I want is lower EGTs and more useable power when I'm dragging the boat or just having some fun running the hills.

Orings and studs are already in the plan since I'm pretty sure my stock head gasket is just waiting for a good time to leave me stranded.

All comments are welcome.

Mike

A towing setup is best for most people, the 40 is laggy for any towing on a 12V IMO. I'd also look for a smaller housing for the 3b, I bought a 22 and had Brad @ Ponci's port it for me and it was a huge improvement in spool-up over the 26.

BTW: I've got a 23 and a couple 26's I'd sell if anyone needs one!

thekidfan,

Did you have a 26 on your set-up first before going to the 23, or just set up the twins with the 23 right from the beginning?

What I'm getting at, if you started wth a 26 then switched, were there any issues with the hot pipe or the location of the 3B due to the 23 being different in size or shape?

Thanks,

-Jay

Great set of turbo's, I'm considering going from the 26 to a 23 aswell. I'd keep the 40 on top too, you never know when you'll want more.

Jay, started as a PIERS :))) 40 over a 3B. 5 with a 26, went to a S-300 62/. 8, on top not much difference  dropped in the 22 un-divided housing (that BRAD did a BEAUTIFUL job of porting) (no problems in mounting at all) and spool-up was at least 300 rpm sooner  Jeff

Jeff,

PM me with the price for one of your 23's. A friend and I may be interested. We both recently fabbed up sets for our trucks. He's using a 35/40 hybrid and an HT60 with a 26 housing, and I, like you, used my PDR HX40 and a BHT3B. He's been running his a few weeks and its been doing pretty well, but since he has an auto with the 180 hp pump, he's not sure he is spooling the 60 adequately (may be more due to the standard wastegated housing on his little turbo than the exhaust housing on the 60). It has been suggested he try a 23 housing on the 60.

I haven't installed mine yet (may tomorrow on the 4th), so I don't know yet how it will go. I have the 5 speed with the 215 pump and I'm using a 14cm non-wastegated housing on the 40 with an external 38mm TiAL wastegate.

So the only issue would be if he could swap out the 26 for a 23 on his HT60 without having to build another hot pipe or move the bottom turbo and potentially have to rebuild cold pipes.

Interesting what you found swapping to the S300, by the way.

Thanks,

-Jay

Take this for what it's worth!

If I were building a Twin setup right now I would have to look hard into a SPS 62 with either a . 80 housing or a . 72 (hope that's right) and the K-31.

I looked at this setup at II when I was there last weekend and to me it's is top notch and much better than anything I've built in the past. Both turbos are gated so you would have complete control. A simple duel regulator setup could be added, much like the one Ponci setup on his truck.

Numbers: . 72 housing for say 600 hp and below, . 80 for up to 700 hp. After that I would look into bigger air.

Maybe Ron Allen will chime in here, he's done more building and testing than anyone of us.

Jim

As always, Jim, your input is always worth listening to. We will consider this. However, given that both wallets are still recovering from this venture, it'll be a while before either of us could work out new systems with these turbos. By then, something new may have come along.

In any case, we'll learn what we can with these set ups and try to save our lunch money! ;)

Jim, what do you think of a HTT QD 64 over the k-31. Will it work? What kind of power do you think it will support?

I have a HTT64-16ss over K31 setup on right now. It works well. Pulls ok on bottom, decent midrange, Pulls hard on top. Very nice egt's as long as you don't lug it down too far. I should be getting a ss13 housing to try soon.

Ron, you will be very happy with the 13 cm on top. Spool up on mine is very good for chargers this size and drive pressures are not an issue

I have been following this thread. great info. never thought that I would be thinking about running twins. but sometime in the not so distant future it may be a possibility.

K31 is around 70mm on the compressor inducer. It is not the best turbo for dyno use, but it is so nice the rest of the time that it's hard to bring myself to change it.

Who sells K31's? What price range? What choices are available for intake and exhaust housings?

Ron-I'm assuming that while your K31 doesn't give as big of numbers on the dyno as you might like, its a sweet all around turbo(daily driver, towing, racing)?
