anyone know if a common rail head gasket will fit on a 24v engine. these common rails are boosting up to 85 psi with just head studs and the stock mulitlayer steel head gasket. :--) would sure beat o-ringing and fire ringing the head if it fits.

They are not interchangable. The oil passages from the block to the head are different.

Get some fire rings and be done with it. :D

BTW, the multilayer steel gaskets will blow, even with studs. Got one in the shop right now with a blown gasket. Blew between cylinders 4, 5, and 6. No cross contamination though. Truck has twins making around 70 psi.

So be careful!

I heard somewhere that somebody makes a "Cometic" multi-layer gasket for the 2nd Gen motor, if anybody knows please post :D We use them on the race motor with 15:1 compression, also my Honda uses one, works great!

Just googled the "Cometie" gaskets. Seems to be mainly automotive (gasoline) engines. They make custom gaskets for any application but if these mls gaskets are blowing at 70 psi sounds like it might be a waste of time. :(

We looked into having some MLS gaskets for the 24v made but the cost was just too high..... We would need to order something like 2000 units to have them made. Also as mentioned the MLS gasket is not a gaurantee, we have seen then blow the same as the 24v versions. They do hold more cylinder pressure than the OEM 24v gaskets but integrity is not what a o-ringed 24v head is.
