Common Rail Starter questions

Why does the starter oon my 06 sound like the older cummins (clear back to the 98-02 and the 12 valvers) and the starter on my 07 sound so much different? did they change starters for 07? The 06 starter is much quieter and more pleasing!! Ive noticed this on other 07's vs previous years as well? Do manual and auto trucks use the same starter?

has anyone else noticed this? Is there a way to look up dodge parts online?

This is something i was wondering about because i have a extra set of contacts and a selenoid (from larry buck)left over from the 96 and wonder if it will fit the 06?

Auto's and manual's sound different at start up most of the time.

ive heard alot of manual transmission 12v and 24 valve trucks that sound the same as my 2006 auto??

I dont know what im getting at, haha
