While driving home today in my early 2007 with the 5. 9 & auto the warning chimes dinged then the airbag light came on followed by all the gauges bottoming out then returning to normal and basically every light on the dash coming on. Then the radio cut out. The truck did not quit running nor did the engine even cut out. This happened like 4 times in about 3 miles. Later in the day it took approx 4 key cycles for it to start & when it did the key was in the off position so it died.

I suspected the can-bus & called the dealer (still under warranty) to have it looked at & the service mgr said that it sounded like it quit communicating somewhere. I understand the basic premise of the can-bus system what I don't know is how it is all connected or where. Is it possible that a connection has come loose & just needs corrected or is the can-bus/body control module freaking out on me?

I have had problems in the past with the truck needing multiple key cycles to start which at the time were attributed to the sentry key. Could this be the problem? I just know that my dealer has been less than stellar in the past with service issues and don't really want them digging around with the electronics if they don't know what they are doing. If this thing is gonna have electrical demons I don't want it anymore.

I would check the IOD fuse. Make sure it's seated completely. There may have been a TSB on that fuse not being completely seated. I guess they pull them when they ship the trucks and then there is no draw on the batteries during xport.

I have fixed a truck that did somewhat the same thing. I believe there was an IOD fuse TSB on it, but after hours of testing and on the phone with STAR, they ended up having me put a new TIPM in the truck...

Thanks, I'll check the fuse. If that is not it what about the sentry key? If it is can I have the truck reprogrammed to run without the chip in the key?
