Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) COMP BOX~and Fault Codes 2000 5.9L

[ Question. Have a 2000 Ram with 5. 9L some other mods. The EDGE COM BOX seem to be having some problem ( maybe not maybe it is the truck ) anyway..... I took off the comp box Then rechecked everything. Now seem to have a CHECK ENG light and the first code was the same old ( P 1693 ) Did the key turn off and on and the light went away. Took it down the road to see it without the Comp box. Got the C E light did the key trick and now got a new code ( P1678 ) ( something about NO BUS CLUSTER MESSAGE ) ???? But it starts up and runs like it did the day I got it in 2000. Will this code go away in time or do I need to do the battery Disconnect deal and then re hook back up?

Normally, five engine start cycles will clear a code.



If the code does clear you will want to check the edge box wiring before you reinstall.

My 02 3500 did the same thing, same codes off and on for about 6 months, got slowly worse untill engine would die while driving. It would restart instantly. unhooked EDGE and it got better. Purchesed new EDGE JUICE w/ attitude and installed, still same problem. months later and 2 trips to dealer to replace engine control module and next trip truck control module it is finaly fixed
