Comp Mounting Options

I've got a brand new Comp coming to me in a few days Oo. and was trying to figure out any unique mounting options that ya'll have tried. Truck is a '01 2500 auto. I've seen the regular mount in the ashtray but was hoping for something a little different. Any pics or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

about half way down, I put my comp in my ash-try Idont use it and its a good place to hide your "goods" from anyone peeking in the window. Im hoping my DTT trans commander will fit under the comp though.....



anyone have a mold for this yet??

Do a search on Comp in dash or place for the comp box.



I remember someone made a dash kit that was slick as ... . well something slippery :-laf

My truck is like yours only one year difference. I have a Tekonsha Sentinel brake controller mounted at my right knee, on the under dash to the right of the steering column. The bracket for the controller has a position that allows you to slip the comp right in on top of the controller. It fits there perfectly and is easily accesible. I used double-stick tape to keep it from sliding around.

I took a thin piece of aluminun just the width of the comp and bent it to fit over the comp and painted it black. It just slips over it loose and covers it completely. If you look in the cab all you see is the controller. It is all black above it where the bracket and the comp are.

AlphaCowboy, how hard was it to mount it under the stereo? I thought about trying to put it there earlier, but wasn't sure if it would fit right.

Sorry you are going to have to call them. There were a few posts a couple years ago about someone that makes replacement dash bezels that has a built in spot for the comp. I just recently saw one of them in person installed (October-ish) and it was neat and tight. I believe Bob Wagner knows who to talk to.

AlphaCowboy, how hard was it to mount it under the stereo? I thought about trying to put it there earlier, but wasn't sure if it would fit right.

it was kind of a pain in the *** really. with some work with a dremel I got it to fit, I like the location, but wish it was a little cleaner looking. If you had an ATS transmission with module, you easily could fit both in that area no problem. I think if I spent some more time with it, I could have made it look better, that or find another brand deck adaptor with a slightly larger hole under the deck.



Over all, I like it, but wish it was a bit more polished.



The other thing, when the truck was under warranty, never was bothered about having a box on the truck, as when you shut it off... they never even noticed it being there.

I finally got it installed Oo. Oo. Me likes! I'll have to take some pics when it clears up some. I went with AlphaCowboy's idea. Looks good bu t definitely a PITA!
