I figured it might happen but was hoping to get lucky. I'm running a Comp with no pump wire and no other mods on an ETH. If I get on it around 1500 in 1x4 or 1x5 the clutch will slip a little, not too bad but I don't like it so I guess I'll be replacing the clutch to the tune of $2k or so. Welcome to the dark and expensive side I guess. . :rolleyes:
 
Clutches in these trucks seem to be all over the map in their holding ability! My truck and Comp, on 5x5 up a 7% grade, towing our 7000 lb fiver shows NO HINT of slippage - but man, does it pull!;) :D



Maybe knocking on wood is in order... :eek:
 
A Southbend clutch won't cost you two grand. You should consider ordering one and do the install yourself. I did mine back in April. The job is not that bad if you have some basic do-it -yourself experience. Get a good transmission jack or an adapter to fit a large floor jack. TDR member OO posted some excellent instructions with pictures that you could find by using the search feature. Good luck.
