I was wondering if anyone had tried just the comp box on an ETH? I have one and debated long (a week) before hooking up the pump wire. I finally decided I am my own warranty station, and hooked it up and... ... . not much:confused: I can barely tell the difference between 1X5 and 5X5. There is a little more smoke at lower rpm but other than that I have to look to see what level I am on. Motor is stock other than the comp and a Scotty 11 intake, and an EGT gage.

Any input would be appreciated.

You should fill a big difference from 1x5 and 5x5 Check the pump wire that you taped. Make sure it is the write one. If you are satisfied that you got it right. Then you probably got a bad box.

DD UFM on ETH

I just hooked up my pump wire today and I can not tell much difference, if any. :( I am going to check my connection again tomorrow. I would also be curious if anyone else has seen any better improvements than cold diesel and myself.

I definitely tapped the right wire. I checked the connection with a multi meter and got voltage off the pump cover and in the harness in the cab. I also checked the continuity of the ground wire and it was good.

GotDodge can you really tell the difference between 1 and 5X5. Is it in the upper or lower rpm or both? Do mobilescout and I both have bad boxes maybe?

I have ridden with a friend who has a comp box and I could really feel the difference in Jason's truck, but he had 275 injectors as well. Are the smallish ETH injectors the issue here?

I am installing DD111's soon so I will know this answer soon but does anyone else?

Thanks again for any input!:)

cold Diesel

Have you tried any other settings, like 4x5. My box did the same thing but in 4x5 it was good. I dyno at 272 horsepower on 4x5 setting. I sent the box in for drag program and it fix the problem. Were did you buy the box from? My came from DD.

GotDodge,

I havn't tried 4X5 yet but I will now. I just kept going from 1X5 straight to 5X5.

Bought the box from Wildcat Diesel.

Please let me know how the drag program goes.

Cold Diesel, I know what your problem is. . . it's that funny air you guys have up there in Alberta. After seeing what happened on the dyno at the Stampede I'm convinced the air there sucks the ponies right out of a healthy Cummins :p

Dude, let Rod know that you're having problems. He'll help you troubleshoot, or send you another Comp PRONTO.

I've done business with Rod and he stands behind EVERYTHING he sells.

Mobilescout and Colddiesel,

You might want to check your fuel pressure if you haven't already. I noticed a severe lack of power with my TST PM3 when my lift pump went t*ts up. Drilling your banjo bolts or upgrading your fuel lines will help considerably if you have a so so LP and even if you have a good one.

Rod was the first one I called about it. He spent over an hour on the phone with me helping me trouble shoot it. Customer service extraordinarie for sure. :D

Idaho CTD

That a good thought! I just got my banjo's and isolated fuel pressure gauge from Rod today and will know this weekend if thats my problem.

Its not the air... LOL. My part of Alberta is at 700 feet above sea level... ... unlike Calgary. ;)

I am going to see Piers next week to install my CON FE and get a super HX40 and manifold with ceramic coating from him. If the issue isn't resolved by then, I am sure that he will be able to shed some light on it for me. I am fortunate enough to have him a mere 14 hour drive away. ;)

Thanks for all the input:)

me too

:{ I too was wondering about this issue, I checked all my connections and they were good, I took it for another cruze and I did some switching while throttle on and could feel some jolts going both up and down so I guess its working just cant feel it, on 5x5 I did notice alot of black smoke which tells me alot of fuel is being delivered  I guess it works... ... ... ..... I've got almost the same set up and I see an amazing differance when I'm in 1 and 5 did you restrict the boost getting to the wastegate so as to up your boost, are you able to monitor the boost, with the high output engine[245hp] you have thehx35 turbo you should be able to get about 35lbs of boost at high load high throttle. Merv

I checked my connection and it is good. Did some more testing and have determined that it is working. Just not that much different with or without the pump wire connected. The smoke is much greater on 5x5 and the boost is 32-34#. Will have to get another PURCHASE ORDER from the wife for some DDII's or III's. :-laf This Bombing is sure addicting. :D

I also get 34 # boost so it works... ... ... I would guess that we will see a big diff while towing. I aint had the opertunity since the install... ... ... . Kevin

Just got back from a 90 trip to the dealer to have some repairs done on my fifth wheel. I tried 1x5 to 5x5 and I could not tell much difference. A little more smoke on 5x5. I thought that my clutch might slip, with 14000# hanging on the truck, but it didn't. I am puzzled at this point, as to whether the box is really working as it should. If and when it stops raining, I am going to remove the snaplock connector and really make sure that it actually was making good contact. I was under the impression, that I would see a big difference with the pump wire connected.

You should see a noticeable increase in power, and yes, 5x5 should slip your clutch (it does mine).

I'd guess either your scotch lock on the pump wire isn't making a good connection, or you have a bad box. Sounds like you're gonna check the wire. That's pretty much it... if it isn't the wire or any other connection, you have a faulty box. In which case I'm sure Rod will exchange it for you.

:D :D :D :D Found the problem. The pump wire connector was not making good contact with the wire. Installed new connector and I am all :) 's. Colddiesel I hope you find your problem, you will love the results:D

mobilescout

So is there a really noticeable difference now? I used the blue chip pump cover and the connection shows good voltage on the multi meter. I will try get Piers to give me another comp box to try when I am at his shop next week, and then I will know if its the box for sure.

I am getting  . I have had the TPS off my truck 13 times so far trying to get to the bottom of this.

Rats..... I was looking in the wrong place:eek: When I finally turned down my bomb'ed stereo and looked at the tack... ..... I noticed the clutch is slipping so badly that I am not putting any of the power down. I noticed the tack jump up to 400 rpm while on 5X4 without the truck accelerating any harder. Kind of surprised the clutch gave up so easily as it only has 13K or so mainly easy miles on it. Southbend going in this week.

Thanks for everyone's input but I feel:eek:

The slipping clutch bug strikes again! I'm kinda surprised yours quit already-mine held up to the 275's and EZ-and actually to the COMP on 3x5... ... 4 and 5 were a lost cause.

Still waiting for my care package to show up-you may still be rigged up ahead of me! My truck feels soooooo slow now-down to my poor old EZ and 275's. My BD2's are coming back to me with my COMP so I can hold my head semi-high anyways... ... :p
