Friends,

I just figured out the 2017 Ram 5500 I bought new last March does not have the rear window defroster listed on the window sticker for $160. Called the commercial sales lot at the dealership I purchased it from, their lot is closed on Saturday. The rear window defroster is the traditional wires in the window, based upon how my wife's 2019 1500 is. Hasn't been a problem so far, it's just I paid for something I don't have. I'm curious if they have to remove my CM truck body to replace the rear slider.

BTW, while creating this thread, there was not an option to load file fullsize… I guess that's been deleted?

Interesting, looks like "FULL IMAGE" is still there!

Unless I missed it, the slider is not even an option on the C&C, so I ASSume the dealer installed the slider in place of the defroster. Is the switch on the dash?

I guess on a Laramie, the power slider is standard. Has the built in overhead switch and everything. It has a third brake light and cargo lamps too, also with factory switches. This isn't your father's C&C.

There's really a long list of options, but I think the only one I've figured out is no sunroof option. Not sure there are any other features not offered. Up until 2018 model year C&Cs, Laramie was the highest trim level offered. I just looked and Limited level is offered on the 5th Gen C&Cs.

I remember my first truck (1976 Toyota P/U) was a bottom trim, bench seat, heater and fan, no power anything, wing windows (wouldn't mind having those still) and an AM radio...Ok I splurged on the radio. :)

Just an FYI, I wouldn't mind having the power folding towing mirrors on this truck. I didn't realize it when I bought it, but I would have still taken it.

Yes sir, sliding rear window has defroster. First, I figured it out on my wife's 2019 1500 Ram that has it... same item on window sticker. Then, I googled 2017 Ram rear window defroster, and found it too. Interesting that rear window defroster and heated mirrors are activated from the same switch.

When I got my truck I didn't realize the rear defrost button did the mirrors, since I didn't have rear defrost.

On my 1996 truck I added the 2001 CIPA power and heat tow mirrors. I modified the OEM connector to work the power, and installed a Neon rear window defrost button (has all electronics built in) to work the mirror heaters. That way the heaters were just on for a specific amount of time, not constant. All looked OEM on the dash
