Need a little help

Well at least they got rid of glow plugs and went with a grid heater.

I looked at GMC before I got the Dodge. The whole truck is overly complicated(just look at the engine compartment), Ground clearance is too low and the looks are really lacking in my opinion.

Probably a good vehicle for someone that trades their vehicle in every other year.

They still have glow plugs as well. There was a problem with the first ones out where the glow plug controller would stick on, melting the glow plug tips off and in to the cylinder.

The LBZ is nice, no doubting that. We have one at work, I 'd say it's a draw between it and my 06 Dodge as far as power and transmission shifts go. I do wish I had the manual control in my Dodge though.

Matt

wrong place to admit this but I'm hopping the fence for an 06 GMC in a few weeks. Incentives plus flat out sticker to sticker the GMC/Chevy is 3K cheaper no matter how you build them.

I like the GMC front end better than the Chevy and the 2500/3500 single wheel mega cabs look a bit awkward in stock trim. The 3500 dually is another $1200 and the only way I would buy the Dodge.

We looked at GMC crew cab long beds before buying our second Dodge. We couldn't get a decent trade at the GMC dealer for our 02 Dodge, and I wasn't going to pay $4500 more for a tiny bit more room in the cab.

Since getting the GMC LBZ at work, I have no regrets about staying with a Dodge. There's really not much of a difference between the two. My Cummins likes to pull hard from 1800- 2700 rpm, and that is where it shines. The LBZ likes to run 2500-3200, and that is where it shines.

Hey Todd, I don't know where you're buying your trucks, but here, GMC's are EXPENSIVE. The sticker on my 2500 CTD QUAD 4X4 SLT was 43,080. A comparable GMC was 41,500-ish. I got my Ram, out the door, for 31,500, and the GMC dealer wouldn't budge below 35. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with the GMC.

I thought about a GMC for a week or so, but I have three guys working for me with them that have had way too many issues. The trucks are driven 50-60K a year with about 500lbs of instruments in the bed. Two have had 3-4K in work done out of warranty and less than 100K. The other has 120K and has had almost 6K done including both front hubs twice, electronic 4X4 switch in dash and associated parts, a complete new transfer case... due to a hole developing in the pan from a pump vibration... so says the ticket. The same pan had an epoxy repair on the inside from the factory that the dealer allowed the owner to take a picture of before sending the core back. He plans on some *****ing over that one.
