Forgive me for not knowing the answer, I don't keep up with the board as often as I used to.

I've got DD1's, a PS boost module and an ex brake on my 2001. I'm making more trips, longer distances, more weight (gross 19k) with a relatively aerodynamic fth wheel/ flatbed Jeep hauler (10. 5' high, rounded nose to it).

I'm wanting more power to carry highway speeds (hi 70's low 80's which is with or slower than traffic) when the hills get bigger and the headwinds get stronger (Lots of time on I-40 going west). Without the wind I'm happy but I'd like that extra margin.

With that said- I'm looking at the Edge EZ, DD's similar box or the VA CPC. From what I can tell all are very similar except the VA does not have a boost module built in. Are any of these running any better or is there something else I should consider? I don't want to go nuts, I'm cooking my rear tires as it is.

You might actually consider the edge comp box, you can install it and not hook up the pump wire, this way it acts like an ez with the advantage of the sub levels for smoke control. I believe level 1 with any of the various sub levels is similar to an ez. hook up the pump wire and you can shoot for the moon on power. i believe the price difference is only like a 100 bucks, and will give you room later if you want even more power. And as far as the va goes, the new ones have a boost module built in. I actually have a brand new one i want to get rid of, but it is for the HO motor, wont work on yours. hopefully someone with comp box will speak up here, i think you will like that set up.

I had the EDge EZ,and went to the Comp,if you just need a little more, the EZ will give it to you,it makes a huge difference towing,IMO. The Comp is unblelievable, but i wouldnt even use levels 2-5 for towing, you wont need them. If you get the comp, and want to use the higher levels, you might need to do some fuel system work, and a clutch,at the minimum.

RockCrawler, The Comp is probably your best bet. During all of my R&D with different injectors and Turbos the Comp was great because you can just hit a button and change your fueling levels to match your current "Bombing" levels. You can even turn it off.

I currently am able to tow with DD3's and the comp on level 5. But before I installed my latest turbo I would turn the comp onto level 1 or two with the DD3's and was able to keep the the Egt's under 1250.

You might try the New Power Edge EZ Pulse. It is adjustable from 45hp to 90 hp. Four levels I think and it also has the Sub menus for smoke control. It hooks in the same as the Regular EZ without the the pump wire of the comp. The only drawback is your have to lift the hood to make changes and you have to remove it to turn it off...

Just finished reading the installation instructions for the Edge Pulse and it does use the pump wire tap like the Comp and PE.

Rockcrawler, if I were you I would look into a VA. I liked it a lot better than the EZ and you already have a boost module. See if you can borrow an EZ and a VA from members in your area to see what YOU like best. A used EZ or VA will save you a pile of cash and really make your truck run good. The EZ or VA with the DD1's and a boost module will give you a lot bigger gain seat of the pants than the injectors did, it feels like double. I would not get in a hurry to tap the pump wire on an 01 personally, but to each his own. Try it with one of the "small" boxes and see of it will do what you want. MHO.

I stand corrected... . The EZ Pulse does tap into the pump wire.

Does the VA hook into the data port or into the Can-Bus pump Harness?

The Ez Pulse Dyno Graph

Kurt, the VA plugs into the can-bus harness. The big plug on the back of the pump comes off and the VA (connection) goes in between the pump and harness. I heard a rumor that the new ones come with a new VOID sticker if your pump plug has one on it.

That's what I was wondering about. The Bully dog also hooked in that way. I have a 2002 in for bombing and it has the "Void" sticker. So I will stick with the EZ on his since it only hooks up to the Data plug. One more thing is that they changed the Map sensor plug. PE has made a adapter plug for it.

That's cool that they come with a new sticker!! Which Box Maker has the new Injector pump cover and wiring harness?
