Has anyone here installed a set of component speakers (tweeter and woofer) in the front doors? What did you use as a backing plate to install them?

I installed some Pioneer 6x9s in my front doors. Did not use any backing plate and not sure why you would need one. All I used was some of that vibration absorbing DuraMat or what ever its called and replaced the stock 6x9s with my new Pioneers.

What would you use a backing plate for?

I'm going to be installing some 6. 5" speakers with some 6x9 to 6. 5" adapter plates from Crutchfield. Just because I got them for next to nothing :-laf The adapters are only $11 or $14  from Crutchfield. I'm also gonna install bass blockers on them to ensure they last me a while.

I have a set of Boston Acoustics 6. 5 pro's in the doors. Had a special plate made to hold both of them.

They Kick ...

Installed a tweeter & woofer in my front doors. Used this 6X9 adapter plate from Crutchfield. Fit is fair. Shop around for a better price than Cruchfield. Crutchfield's' prices are outrageous.
