What benefit is there for having a boost gauge that shows vac? (what does vac tell you about the engine?

Diesels don't have throttle plates and therefore don't develop manifold vacuum. Vacuum/boost gauges are for gassers.

I was confused when I saw a compound gauge listed for sale for cummins engines... Didn't make sense to me.
