I'm trying to do a compression check on my engine but the compression kit I have doesn't have the correct adapter that replaces the injector. The kit claims to do 5. 9L Cummins engines but the part that should replace the injector has the wrong threads, they are coarse and my hold down nuts are fine thread. Does anyone have the correct part number for the correct tool that replaces the injector so I can complete my test? Napa's kit also has the incorrect threaded adapter that also claims to do 5. 9L Cummins engines. :{

If anyone is interested I found one thru Snap-on, I hope it is correct.

Qty : 1

P/N : M3584

Desc : Adaptor, Compression, Diesel

Price : 62. 15/each

IIRC, there are 2 different thread sizes used on the 5. 9's. The non-intercooled and intercooled engines are different.

If you don't already have one, get a thread pitch gauge. Standard and meteric. Then you can check it, to get the correct adapter.

I bought my compression gauge and adapter in a local tool store. The brand is Rimac. The thread pitch on the adapter fits the thread pitch gauge labelled "16". The price on the compression gauge was $50. I seem to recall the adaptor was about $35, maybe a little more.
