4BT and a TH700R4

1995 Ford Thomas School Bus with Cummins listed on Ebay.

well it was suggested that I cross post this here. I am not sure if anyone will know this but 5. 9 used in other applications than dodge pickups sometimes had the compressor for the a/c mounted on the top of the engine instead of the lower right side of the engine. Would anyone happen to know the part number for this bracket? I know that fordcummins.com sells this bracket but it is quite pricey and I know that it is in the cummins system I just cannot seem to find it.

Btanner here are some part #3903470 3903472 for a York compressor

3904556 for a York compressor

3904858 3904977 3904948 for a gm rotary compressor

3904859 3904845 (requires two) for a nippondenso compressor.

Now these are old cummins part numbers that I pulled from a parts book that i have . Some may or may not be available. the part number that that I gave require each one for that particular compressor. But I must tell you I made my own when I did my 1989 3500 Chevy conversion because of the hood clearance. I am in the process of doing an1987 Chevy suburban an I am going to used the stock dodge compessor and brackets. Good luck. Pmartinez

Pmartinez could share some pics of your conversion to -87 Sub. specially the ac compressor area pics would be great since I'm doing a conversion for 2wd -90 model Sub. I'm still far away from that point where I could start to shoe horn engine/transmission compo on it's place but any helpful tips are more than welcome.

here's the link to my page http://samba.student.oulu.fi/~jpontys/cummins.html

I have not started the conversion yet . I am still accumulating all the parts that I intend to use. But I intend to use the original 1990 dodge brackets and compressor and accessories. I believe that they will fit with a slight notching of the frame. On my 1989 2 wheel drive Chevy dooley i could not fit the compressor so I had to relocate to the left side of the engine slightly above the vacuum pump. what compressor do you intend to use?

The engine is -96 model and I'll try use the Sanden compressor what came with it. Do you have any idea is there a brackets for Sanden to relocate it for some other place. The Sub. is now with GM R4 compressor which is bigger in diameter but much shorter than Sanden, any change to use R4?

I have a picture of a universal bracket for the compressor that I have been told by a cummins tech rep will work on the top of the cummins. He is researching the 5. 9 specific bracket and I'll try to get a pic and part numbers for it too. If someone could give me their email address I'll send the pic it's too big to post and I don't have an manipulation software. Parts numbers 05-18734 (bracket compressor front) and 05-18735 (bracket compressor rear)
