computer geek question

My computer dont want to pull up (proper term?) TDR while I'm on MSN. On the AOL it works fine, but I'm dumping them.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what might be the problem before I call MSN?

I'm not very computer literate, but I've tried everything I could think of. Other sites I frequent seem to work fine on the MSN ???

The page will load to the point of the red line with "forum, post, threads, last post, moderator", then that's it!!

Kind of reminds me of when I was running an old 486. It acts like it's going to produce the rest,(no page unavailable etc. etc. messages) but just kind of craps out there.

I've experienced the same type of problem. At home using my Qwest ISP I have no problems with http://www.foxnews.com/ But when I dial in to the same Qwest ISP at work using different phone lines http://www.foxnews.com/ won't load What gives???

There have been some issues between backbone providers lately. Some of the major ones have experienced cash crunches and others have been trying some "political" moves. This has resulted in occaisional partial outages, as one provider refuses to carry traffic destined for another they have "issues" with.



However, I'm not aware of anything large right now. If this long-term for you, then do a "traceroute" to the places you can't seem to get pulled up. On a MS (windows) machine, you open a dos prompt and type "tracert www.turbodieselregister.com" and hit enter. If it doesn't make it to TDR but instead, gives you a bunch of *** *** *** responses at one of the "hops", then email your provider with the results of that, and ask them to do something about it.



I was not aware of MSN being affected by any refusals peer traffice for MSN or AOL, but there could be. Most likely, however, it's someone's misconfigured router... .

R. ebel, try a different access number. I just did that and it seems much better.

At work, we have our own server, so I can get anything... . until the warning pops up. Seems like if it's guns or girls, the company wont let you go there.
