correcting eye dominance prob/shooting

I have a Sony Vio with Windows XP, Last night I went to check to see if I should defrag the system and heres what happened.

C drive kept popping up saying something like it cant defrag c drive because its spoused to run on something else, and that I should check C disk, it was in a box that pops up and said this in side of it and all you could do was hit the OK button and then it would despairer. D drive worked fine. The only thing I have done different to the computer since the last time I defraged was I added Norton anti virus to the system.

If you nee to know Exactly what it said let me know and I will go run it again and post what it said, word for word.

Right now I'm on my other computer in the livingroom.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

MIKE

Sometimes the defrag process will get interupted by Norton, disable Norton, then start the defrag, then leave the computer alone. Don't forget to enable Norton when you are done.

Trust me, Win2000/XP needs to be defraged occasionally - rebuilt once every year or so is even better.

Truckie,

go to start, click on run. type in cmd then hit enter. type chkdsk then hit enter. when that is done type defrag c: then hit enter.

Thanks for the help so far, I haven't been able to try anything yet cause Iv just been to busy to day. I will try it tonight.

I ll let you all know if what you all said works to night.

If your C; Drive is more than 85% full. Defrag will not work on XP, It doesn't matter if you have Fat 32 or NTFS file system

formula... Linux rocks!

I use primarily Red Hat although I have Mandrake, SUSE, Slackware and soon Fedora Core 1 on my four computers.

I have no use for Windoze anymore.

Windoze free since 2003!

You might try starting it in safemode to prevent all the extra crud from starting and then running the defrag... . push F8 key while starting and select safe mode.
