Brief history -
I ran a single trailer up to Gillette, WY (7000lbs). Drove to Colo. Springs, got a call that my driver with an 05 Duramax was sitting in Ainsworth, NE with his engine cased. I leave CO, drive to NE, take a triple stack (GCW of 30,000lbs) to 30 NW of Sturgis, SD. On the way to Sturgis, pulling a long grade, my turbo - intercooler hose blew off. Pulled over, fixed it, blew off again. I creeped into my customers shop staying out of the throttle. Picked up a new tube at a Kenworth dealer and drove, as is back to Ainsworth. Fixed it there, loaded up his duramax and took off. :-laf
Truck ran like a monster for 15 miles then my check engine light came on, truck had no power and got very quiet. I began to feel bad about ragging on his duramax
Anyway, It ran smooth, but had very little power, I could maintain 65 on the flat, 40's going up hill and hit 70's going down a long hill.
I threw these codes (multiples and they kept changing sequences upon key cycles)
p0234
p0237
p0299
p0480
p2509
We drove straight from NE to OK, shut the truck off, got breakfast, came out, fired right up, stick the throttle on the floor and she came alive. A huge plume of black smoke and we were on our way. Felt just as strong as it ever has. Check engine light still on, codes still there, but the truck is running fantastic. Could this be a result of low boost for a long time? Just a glitch?
Mileage was also good, 16. 5mpg pulling 11k
