Gasoline &/or Fuel price protest

I know this is not the right place to post this but I am going to try, I have a fire wall on my computer that Keeps telling me that someone is tring to access my computer through BACKDOOR/SUBSEVEN TROGAN HORSE, than it gives me somekind of IP address I think. I need to know what I can do and who to report this to. It looks like me firewall is holding up, but to be on the safe side I am going to get a hardware firewall too. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. My computer is connected to the net 24-7 through a cable modem. So I need to stay protected.

Go to this website and do a online virus scan. Do not trust your on board antivirus program is you sucpect your computer is infected. Most if not all viru's that are out now disable the onboard programs.

Click the scan now button on the right side of the page to start.

If it finds something try to delete it. Also plug the names it finds into google and see what you can find for removal tools.

Post back and let us know.

Moving to the other forum. Are the IP's the same every time? You can do a reverse IP lookup here http://ww1.arin.net/whois/ . Just type in the IP address and it will tell you who the owner of the IP address is - most likely their ISP. My guess is that they are coming from different IP's all the time. My firewall gets hit at least 5-10 times a day from someone trying to hack in. Your doing the right thing by having the firewall in place. MANY MANY people don't and that is why people do this - because it's sooooo easy to get into some machines.

Settle down it's all OK!

It's just a virus that spreads through the internet trying to check your computer to see if it is vunerable. Your firewall seems to be stopping it and reporting it so dont worry.

When alot of new viruses come out my firewall will go NUTS! I just usualy ignore it.

If you have a good anti virus scanning software keep it updated and run checks every so often and you should be fine.

Let me know if you have any other questions as I'm a "hired nerd" by trade.

Your software fire wall is all you need. Make sure your logon password on your computer is not a simple common name. Hackers use files of common names to try and match passwords folks are using. Use some strange combo of letters and numbers.

I't's amazing how many probes are going on all over the Internet trying to find open ports. When I get a hacker repeatedly trying to find open doors on my computer (fixed IP, DSL connection) I open 20 command windows (from the start menu, "run" and type in "cmd") In the black command screen I type "ping w. x. y. z -t" the "w. x. y. z" is the IP address of the computer probing my computer. After starting up the 20 ping sessions I go to lunch :D

When I come back I stop each session with "control C"

After getting blasted with thousands of hits on his/her computer, the hacker usually then leaves me alone. If not I do the same thing with 5-10 computers at work, which REALLY gets the point across :D :p
