I recently put a set of Vision 19. 5 inch Vision type 81 wheels and Toyo M608 Z tires. The speedometer is off by about 2 or 3 MPH according to the GPS. A guy that used to work at a Dodge service center told me that I needed to get the computer flashed to adjust for the tires. When I told him I did not care too much about the MPH difference, he said that the larger wheel/tire combo will throw off the computer and could do harm to the engine. I found this a little difficult to believe, but thought I would ask you guys what you think. Anybody else running 19. 5 inch wheels without flashing the computer?

1) if you were near me, I would do it no charge, It is very simple as low as you know the rotations per mile...

2) What did you pay for the whole set? 19. 5's sounds very nice ;)

Tommygun, well, I sure wish that I did live near you, free is my favorite price. The Vision type 81 wheels and Toyo tires ran me about $500. 00 per corner. I sure like them, look great and give me about 4,900 pounds of capacity per wheel. I carry a heavy truck camper and the original equipment wheels and tires did not give me much of a safety margin. And as I said, they really fill up the wheel wells.

Do you think that the computer needs to be re-flashed, will the difference between the 19. 5 inch wheels and the original equipment wheels cause harm to the engine?

it will not harm the engine one bit... the only thing that will be off is the fuel economy read out and your speedo... transmission shift points are controlled by you so i'd just leave it... your warrenty will last just a wee bit longer this way [milage wise ;)]

Got any pics ?? :D

tommygun, PM me with an e-mail address, and I will send you a couple of photos of the wheels/tires on my truck. Also, anybody else that wants to see them, just send me an e-mail address.

PM on the way! I ran around for about 20K miles before getting my speedo adjusted. Got a buddy at the Dodge dealer, did it for free. We just figured out the Rotations per mile and punched it in! I was way off. Now, according to gps I am 2-3 mph off at 75 as opposed to being 10-12 mph off at 65! Really stepped up in tire size! I didn't think it would make that big of a difference!

And BTW - For the money per year, It really fun to a little parking spot on the web for all my junk - Like pics of my wife, cars, jetskis, and you can hide them in the site on links that are invisibile, etc,etc

ahh, fun with internet :)

The DYNO page is my "puff my chest page" - Gotta show what ya got!

I intend upon testing combos for predictable results - At least I know the effect of what I did with my truck... . Now to find a virgin 98 12v. . hmm... ;)

PS - BTW the program to make both pages is coffee cup visual desinger, NO coding, its "what-you-see-is-what-you-get" - very simple
