Does anyone know of a place where they will adjust the settings of the Cummins computer rather than bolting on an ez or something. I know a big rig pusher who has had it done to big motors. I'm trying to get him to stop in where he had it done and talk to them or get me their number, but hasn't happened yet. I know its possible to get these things to perform great (power and fuel economy) with just the parts they came with. I talked to a mehanic who rode with a Cummins tech who changed the settings from his laptop but said they can't leagally do it. I was happy(happier) with mine before the computer flash done during a warranty repair--now not so good. I am considering injectors but would like to find someone(any state) who has the ability to adjust it on a dyno. I'm in So. Cal (for now) and they won't do anything here!!!! I talked with my local Cummins shop and they will dyno but said they can't or won't make any computer adjustments.

cummins can't becouse we have a dc computer. Some companys in the past had made products to do that but dc has sued them. You will probly not find any one able or willing to do this.

We could start an open source project. This way it would be free to everyone. I would commit time to it. This way DC can't sue anyone. MAybe a couple people who have work on doing this in the past can chim in and pass on there results.

Also I don't know how they can really sue anyone because of the Federal Mogual Act, but I'm not a lawyer. The one one that I can see that can do any enforcement would be the EPA.

SEmerson,

The ecm is a cummins part, not D/C but it is only used in the Dodge. Cummins will not modify because of emmissions tampering laws. Very hefty fines. How many diesel hot rod shops in Ca?Very difficult to protect yourself against Tampering laws with a paper trail. :(

I'm getting a modified ECM. .

They aren't officially for sale though. Turnaround time is unreal, Like 6+ weeks, and the oil pressure gauge is AWOL, but,, the truck will run STRONG. We haven't been able to get past the rev limiter yet, but we are working on it. Right now, we can rev to 4,000 without a load.

No price has been set, and no official deals have been made.

You will need to supply us with an ECM, and any quirks,,, well, for now. You'll have to live with 'em.

This ECM has been in the oven since '99 or '00.

Mark Chapple (I think) (or TST) used to reprogram the Dodge trucks,, putting an RV program in them, but the EPA found out, and kindly informed him that he probably shouldn't be doing that. That was in early '99.

Reving high

Just wondering, since Diesels are not meant to rev high, and develop most horse power and Torque at low/midrange RPM's. why would any one want to higher than 4000??

Some of us don't use Diesel's how they were meant to be used... :D :D  ;)

My 12V makes it's power from 2,600RPM to 3,600RPM. . or 100 to 150MPH. (making over 500RWHP)

At 1,500RPM, the truck is making about 75RWHP.
