I'm planning on hitting the Rio Frio for a little fun at the end of the month. Oo. What are some good places to stay? Not sure yet if we'll be camping or getting a cabin.

We normally park the RV up at Buckhorn Lake RV Resort (I-10 exit 501) in Kerrville and day-trip down to the Lost Maples area. Sorry I can't help with any local campgrounds.

(Edited to correct exit number)

I may be in Concan on the Saturday night of Memorial Weekend... There is a really good music group from Oklahoma playing there, and they asked that we attend. . Will keep you posted as it comes closer. . It would be great to meet up with you and hang out or something! It is a little bit of a drive from the Buckhorn, and the people who run that place are rather rude, and were very obscene in the manner which they handled some of the guests at the Diesel Rally. I would definitely stay somewhere else if the option was available. Just my 2 cents worth there... Keep me informed where y'all are staying, when you get a place, and like I said, maybe we can meet up or something...

Gee, Chris, could it have something to do with a chassis dyno (and the resultant black smoke & noise), lots of beer, loud trucks being run late at night, etc. ? ;) :-laf

Not flaming you - just pointing out that a full-blown diesel truck rally isn't the clientele they're used to dealing with. Our iRV2.com RVing group (TexasBoomers.org) stays there regularly with no problems at all! :D

We had been planning on getting there the 25th, wednesday night. The only problem is that the g/f "has" to be in Midland friday evening for her cousins graduation  . the plan was to stay wed, thurs, (before the huge crowds arrive) then head to midland friday and back home... however, we're always up for a good time. :D nothing better than live music and a few rowdy folks for a good time :p . I'll see what i can come up with, will keep you updated.

One more question- if we decided to go the camping route (probably at garner), would we need to make reservations since it's a big weekend?

Rusty- No Flaming felt. . It was not that, but the people there were quite rude to me, as well as the people who were with us. . It all got started by a member on here (No names) that even PIERS told off... when they got there, I told them our plans, and that we were going to be BBQ'ing, and if we got too loud, just to come by and say something so we could resolve the situation, right? That's how we do it in Texas... Correct me if I am wrong, but No, it was too much, and they blew everything WAYYYY out of proportion. The reason I am slamming Buckhorn was that they tried to pawn everything off from the whole rally upon our specific campsite. They could have handled everything in a much more professional manner, but chose not to, therefore I will do everything I can so that other people do not have to deal with the rudeness of some of the people we consider "Hill Country Trash" down here in South Texas. Not slamming anyone in the hill country, but y'all know what I am talking about!

Forrest,

I would go ahead and make reservations if I were you... Too bad you won't be there for the weekend, it ought to be pretty nice, and it would be fun to get a large group together to float the river together! Either way, let me know what your plans turn out to be as it gets closer!
