You have to print out the template, tape it together, put on a sheet of metel, cut out metel, drill holes, bend metel and then you have what the picture shows.

Only a thought for you FDavid, but if you are using Internet explorer as a browser try this. "click' on "tools"/"Advanced" tab/scroll down to "MultiMedia" and click off "Enable automatic image resizing". It may be screwing up your printer. Good luck.

I put on a turbo heatshield from fostertruck.com and I have no problems. I looked at that template, looked like more than what was necessary. I also run an outerwears prefilter, no heat damage there. .

I would suggest you make it out of cardboard first and try it. When I made mine, I made it right to the template. I would have changed a few dimensions for a better fit had I known. The hole layout was off quite a bit, but I checked that before I drilled. Turned out OK, but could have been better.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I went ahead and made one using the template. I then painted it black with high temp paint and applied door edge mouldings all the way around. In all, between the aluminum, paint and door edge guards I have under $30 in it. Here is the finished product:

You Can Go To Your Local Newspaper Print Shop-they Use Thin Sheets Of Aluminium For Printing And Then Discard Of It Cause It Has Ink On It. (will Bleed Images Onto Next Printing)

I Dont Know Actual Thickness But We Have Used It Many Times To Eliminate The Rear Seat In Dragcars. A Little Elbow Grease Or Paint Will Eliminate The Ink.

Usually Doesnt Cost But About . 10 To . 25 A Sheet. (outside Dimensions Are Whatever A Paper Is Folded Out)

does anyone have the template that they can post here? I went to the dodge diesel database and that site won't bring up the template file. Thanks in advance.

Well, I tried. The site will not allow any document format except plain text (. txt) and the template is in rich text (. rtf). I am afraid size formatting may be lost with the . txt format but I'll try.

Well, that no worky.

when I print it it is to big for the paper so if someone has them would thay please E mail them to me -- email address removed -- Thank you

Resurecting this from a while back...

I'm having a little trouble coming up with the sheet steel/alum I need to make this shield. I've got my template ready, but no material to use.

I've got an old diamond plate crossover box I think I could probably make four of these things from. Does that sound like a good idea to anyone? Would that aluminum do a good job of blocking heat?

Thanks,

Andy

I used 1/8" Diamond plate aluminum to build my shield. The only problem is the fact that the diamond plate tends to crack/break if you try to bend it to a 90 degree angle. Instead of bending it I cut it on the bend line and bolted it together with a piece of angle aluminum. See picture in my "Readers Rigs".
