what is next?

Amsoil BE/EaBP 100 alternatives??

I recently read an article about transmissions. It noted a sweet spot and mentioned several configurations with automatic and manual. 3. 75 or 4. 10, 6 speed etc. My problem is this. I tow an airstream and the tires that came with it are rated for max speed 65 mph. They are Goodyear Marathon St's. made for load and not for speed. If you go and research the tires you will see "Not over 65mph. So tell me at what speed is this sweet spot? Say 70mph. If this sweet spot is 70mph wouldn't that be advocating a speed in excess of what the tires can handle. On my last trip I had two tires (curb side) go out. It was thread separation. I've spoken to many RV's and they never knew about 65 mph.

I would like to get an 08, but the transmission is my concern. I would like a 6 speed but a dealer told me that it isn't worth it.

I was under the impression that all DOT tires had to be rated to 74mph???

6 Speed vs. automatic, same old argument. It is personal preference. Your dealer told you that BS simply because he wanted to sell the automatic. I prefer to have the gearing control i want with the 6 speed. If it wasn't worth it, DC wouldn't be making one.

Barbieri,

The problem is that you have Goodyears on there. Marathons are known to blow out, whether you're speeding or not. I too tow an Airstream (71 Sovereign), and I run Carlisles. I have run 70MPH with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Normally I do like to stick to the lower speeds, though.
