OK - OK - I'm finally going to get some gauges. I have an auto so please tell me which 3 guages I need from the http://www.spatechnique.com/instruments.html site?



By the way - the DG 109 says oil temp/oil temp - why have two of the same? Also the only one with transmission temp also has rear end temp which I think is way to far down teh road as far as practical measurements. I know it is nice to know, but so is wheel bearing temp and a million other things we could monitor - these machines aren't the space shuttle. I only want a ranking of the most important that I can get in 3 of these gauges.





Do these come with all the hardware, and can you install them yourself or do you need to be a master mechanic?
 
I have the SPA EGT/Boost combo and love it, there is no other guage in my future.



As to your question, the most important guage is the fuel pressure guage. With the mods in your sig a pyro and boost is really not necessary. Having boost and egt is always desireable though. If in your situation and being prepared to drop the cash on three seperate :eek: SPA's I would get the boost/EGT, the fuel pressure/water temp (I would use the water temp for transmission temp), and oil pressure/oil temp for the engine. I really would only want the boost/egt and the FP/water temp for mine, there really isn't anything else I want to monitor if I used the water temp for the transmission (yes that will work w/no problems).



The SPA guages are complete as you recieve them, and are as easy as other guages to put in. You will need to buy some sort of mount to put the guages in, but that is the only thing that you will need. You can put your own guages in easily, I would say that it is about the same difficulty as putting in a new stereo, most can handle it with no problems. Hope this helps.



EDIT: there is an oil temp/fuel pressure combo listed as well if you don't want your transmission temp labeled water temp.

The reason they have one labled oil temp/oil temp is because they are not necessarily talking about engine oil. This could be for trans oil temp/engine oil temp/diff oil temp etc. I also have a lot of the same questions and am trying to decide on which way to go.

I have the SPA gauges, and you can get everything you need in 2 gauges. #dg111 boost/pyro #dg112 get the fuel press/ oil temp. it is not labeled trans temp, but you will know what it is reading, put the oil temp sender in the hot cooler line of the trans (i have seen it posted that bill k of dtt carries the lines with the sender port). the spa's rock you will be very happy with them, and as stated above they come ready to go with everything you need. very clean wiring harnesses, very fast response times, and IMHO they look totally awesome

I'm just about ready to order the same gauges you have. My only concern is the boost gauge. Does it move too fast? I'm just wondering if you can really keep up with it since it's digital. Where did you buy the gauges? I'm planning on the DG111 and the DG112.

the cool part about the spa gauges is the programability. you can program the average reading time (i think that is what it is called) any way if the gauge is bouncing back and forth (pulsing) you can lengthen the time between readings to steady the reading. i know this sounds confusing, but you will see what i mean. as far as being able to read the gauge as fast as it responds, i dont know, i rarely look at the gauge when hot rodding, i just take a glance if one of the alarm lights starts flashing at me. and the peak recall feature is also nice. in a race or hotrodding situation, i dont think you really could read an analogue gauge either, you just are "aware" of the approximate position of the needle. when the trucks are stock you dont have any proplem watching the numbers go up. add the timing box fueling box and injectors, and these babies boost really really fast. i mean like from nothing to 40 pis in a heartbeat, so i guess it also depends on how bombed you are. i got mine from HVAC at performance diesel. i dont know what the supply situation is like now, but for a while the spa's were hard to get, i had to wait a while before it was in stock, but they are worth the wait
