My apologies if this has already been discussed, but there's a bill before congress called the "Motor Vehicle Owners Right to Repair Act". It can be found here , among other places.



An interesting bill. One that will require the full disclosure of all diagnostic information and tools to everyone. Of course, it doesn't mention anything about this information being offered at a reasonable price.



Seems like this would be a good "booster shot" for Magnusson Moss, closing the loophole created by all the software on modern cars.



If this thing passes, I can only hope someone will come out with an affordable aftermarket DRB-III.

Yeah, an affordable scan tool would be nice.



I'm afraid that the manufacturer's would twist the law into something unrecognizable by the users.
